about formpig

NOTE for March 2021 : we are in the process of updating this site with new work.

if you are looking for models from the BRILL/SCHILLING collection or wish to see the earliest digital recreations of models from the BRILL/SCHILLING collection or new printed rapid prototyping models please send us an email at mathematical3DP@gmail.com so that we can update you.

in the meantime please check out the mathematical model tab here and be sure to take a look at the associated links that include a FLICKR page:

each of these models represent the first ever recreations of models from the BRILL/SCHILLING collection and some date back to 2002 – 2006. the clebsch diagonal surface with incised and numbered lines i am particularly proud of.

if you are interested in publishing imagery associated with our models or our original black and white film photographs of the goettingen collection (circa 1999) or to discuss other projects or exhibition i would love to hear from you. it’s been an ongoing 20 year effort. if you are doing academic work associated with this collection we would also welcome your help in getting the work cited.

my work is the first work of it’s kind with respect to the BRILL/SCHILLING collection. it is also, i might argue, still some of the most exceptional work of its kind. the former fact – acknowledging it as a first at least – i would like to make sure to clearly establish.

formpig is an archive of research produced over a 20 year period in parallel with the work of our design-build and general contracting work with our firm UNIVERSAL JOINT based in austin, texas. we’d be more than happy to discuss our involvement in your next project.

universal joint is a design-build and general contracting that has occasionally produced award winning and internationally published work. we like to shoot for exceptional minimalist work which exhibits a contemporary notion of elegance and an “engineered solution” simplicity.
